Coventry Bees Face Wolves

Coventry Bees take on Wolverhampton tonight at Brandon (7.30pm).

The Bees are at full strength and Boss Gary Havelock said to the Bees website: “It’s a match we should win, but we certainly won’t be taking Wolves lightly. In any sport, that’s an absolute no-no - if you under-estimate your opponents, they can come and bite you hard.

“The change in riding order is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, especially at home, and I’ve spoken to the boys about it.

“Bomber said he’d ride anywhere we wanted him too, he doesn’t mind going at No.1, and we know Hans has had a few issues with engines, so I felt just swapping them would be the least disruptive, as Danny and Joonas have been at 3 and 4 all year and they’ve just switched around based on their averages and who is third heat-leader at any given time.

“I felt it was the right time to try it. Bomber is in good enough form to be riding at No.1 anyway, although even if it works I would probably expect to put Hans back at 1 for Lakeside away, on a gater’s track where Hans does normally tend to do well.”

A full night of racing on Friday also features a Midland Development League second-half between the Coventry Vikings and the Wolf Cubs, along with 125cc demonstration races including new national champion Joe Thompson and his twin brother Dan.

And the club will also be staging their annual collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund, which raises vital money for those who have suffered long-term or life-changing injuries whilst competing in the sport.
