Coventry Bears Rugby League team were beaten 52-10 at Keighley Cougars this afternoon.

On a day where Danny Jones, who had died playing for Keighley a week ago, was marked with a minute's silence and the letting off of balloons by his family at Cougar Park, Coventry were 6-0 down after five minutes with a converted Brendan Rawlings try.

Six minutes later and in front of a crowd of 4,066, Keighley scored a second try with a third in the 22nd minute.

Cov got on the board after 28 minutes thanks to Medforth going over and Coleman converting.

However, Cov were 24-6 down when they conceded a fourth try which was converted by Handforth.

Just before half-time and Cov reduced the arrears with a try from Medforth but this time, Coleman missed the conversion.

In the second half, Jesse Sheriffe scored a 44th minute try for the Cougars with Paul White going over in the 63rd minute as it was announced that a bucket collection at the ground has raised £10,491.

Coventry had Dan Parker sin-binned in the 71st minute before Olly Pursglove went over followed by two more tries to send Coventry to a 52-10 defeat
