Cov Rugby Start With A Defeat

Coventry Rugby Club started their League season with a 32-30 defeat at home to Rosslyn Park.

There was a good crowd of 1,391 at the Butts Park Arena to see the visitors take the lead with a Field try in the second minute which Sneddon converted.

Coventry were level in the eighth minute when Lespierre went over for a try and Cliff Hodgson converted.

The scores were only level for three minutes due to Mama scoring a try for Park who had Sneddon convert.

Hodgson kicked a 17th minute penalty and Sneddon kicked one seven minutes later before Le Roux ran in a try for Cov.

In the 33rd minute, Kilmartin scored Rosslyn Park's third try of the afternoon and a fourth followed three minutes later through Northcote- Green.

Hodgson kicked a penalty just before the break which saw Coventry 20-29 down and kicked one five minutes in the second half as did Sneddon.

In the last minute, Hurrell ran in a try which Hodgson converted but Coventry were three points short and went down to defeat.
