Coventry Rugby Club were beaten 24-16 by Blackheath at the Butts Park Arena this afternoon.
A bumper crowd of 1,298 saw Cov take a third minute lead through a Matt Jones penalty which he added to with another penalty in the 21st minute after Blackheath had scored an unconverted try in the sixth minute.
Jones scored a penalty try in the 28th minute to get Cov back in front and when he kicked a 42nd minute penalty, Cov led 16-5 at the break.
However, Cov, now facing the wind, were punished for wasting their chances when Gabbitas kicked a 42nd minute penalty and a second seven minutes later,
Stradwick ran in a try for the visitors which Gabbitas converted and two more penalties kicked by Gabbitas saw Cov go down to 24-16 defeat.
