Cov Rugby Face Blaydon

Coventry Rugby Club take on Blaydon at the Butts Park Arena on Saturday.

“Although we appear to have made lots of changes, it’s actually quite a settled group,” said Rowland Winter to Tom Little.

“Tom Poole and Jimmy Litchfield have been patient for their opportunity to get back in the side, both have trained hard and are strong additions.

“Rhodri’s accuracy and control off the bench was a key factor in our win over Plymouth a fortnight ago. He has stepped up since Pete’s return from injury and his good form, and it now means we have a great battle for the scrum-half shirt.

“Tom Jubb has played lots of his higher level and representative rugby at blind side flanker. He brings a big, athletic, physical threat to the back row and we are excited to see what he can do on Saturday as part of a back row that has put in powerful performances in recent games.

“It’s also great to be able to welcome back Hodgson, Fenner, Daynes, and Pritchard into the team following their injury breaks. They add lots of experience, and we now have lots of options which helps us to select a strong, balanced and exciting squad.

“Blaydon had a difficult start to the season, but they were impressive in their win over Fylde last week and are always a tough proposition so we expect another difficult battle.”
