Britain's top cycling teams will battle it out on Colchester’s streets on Thursday 30 May 2013.
This is the fourth time Colchester will welcome The Tour Series, as Britain's leading televised cycle race series brings its unique team based competition to the town.
Britain's ten top professional cycling teams will head to Colchester for Round Six of the Series as we welcome the men’s and women’s races to the town.
Over the course of the evening of fast paced, action packed racing, teams will be battling to place their top riders as high as possible in the finishing positions in order to gain their maximum squad points.
Thrilling street-racing around the town centre will take place from 5.30pm when the Johnson Health Tech Grand Prix Series women's race visits Colchester. There will be even more action-packed racing from 7pm as more international and national cycling stars take to the streets for the men's Tour Series race.
Cllr Lyn Barton, portfolio holder for Renaissance said, “We are delighted to be hosting The Tour Series for the fourth time, with both the women's and men's races returning to Colchester this year. This event and surrounding activity will attract thousands of people to Colchester again for a world class racing event. It is a great opportunity for us all to get involved and celebrate Colchester as a place where people want to live, work and visit.”
Mick Bennett, Race Director of The Tour Series commented, “Colchester provides us with a testing circuit, popular with both the riders and the fans. We’ve had some great races in our past visits to Colchester, and look forward to putting on another top class event this May.”
This is the first time that the Tour Series has visited Colchester during a school half-term holiday, so all the family can enjoy this action packed event. So make sure you don’t miss the action - grab your spot on the circuit!
