Cavendish Wins Tour Of Qatar

Former World Champion Mark Cavendish has won the Tour Of Qatar with a fourth consecutive victory on the final day.

Cavendish, was the leader over BMC's Brent Bookwalter by fifteen seconds going into the final stage which was from the Sealine Beach Resort to Doha Corniche after three consecutive stage wins.

Although Team Sky's Bernie Eisel had taken more bonus points from the sprints, Omega Pharma Quick Step, resplendent in their Sky Blue kit, were controlling the race for Cavendish as it entered its final thirty kilometres.

The peloton continued as one, on a warm day with blue skys on this sea front stage, towards the finish with two six kilometre laps of an initial ten to go.

Omega Pharma were still on the front going into the final lap with Vacansoleil and Astana all in tow.

With three to go, Team Sky were on the front, then Rotterdam based Argos Shimano took over.

The riders were now in place and Cavendish made his move, after being initially boxed in, to take the stage win in a time of 2.41.31 and win his first General Classification since the Sterm ZLM Toer last year.

Second again was AG2R's Yauheni Hutarovich with Markus third and Adam Blythe fourth.

In the General Classification which was won by Cavendish ahead of Brent Bookwalter; Taylor Phinney; Brit Adam Blythe; Bernie Eisel with Team Sky's Luke Rowe ninth and Geraint Thomas tenth.
