Mark Cavendish has won the fourth stage of the Tour De Suisse.

A 160km stage from Heiden to Ossingen saw Laurens De Vreese (Wanty- Groupe Gobert) and Eritrea's Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN  Qhubeka) go clear after twenty kilometres.

On a stage, which saw the riders go close to Lake Constance before heading towards Kreuzlkingen, Aadorf and Winterthur before two finishing 28km loops around Ossingen, which the duo started on with a lead of 2.41.

With 26.8kms, there was a crash and Sir Bradley Wiggins who was towards the rear of the peloton went down. Wiggins got back on his bike and continued whilst up the road, the peloton had ramped up the pace and De Vreese plus Teklehaimanot were only ten seconds ahead with 16.7kms left.

Chasing duties done for the day, the battle was on to get the sprinters to the finish and Omega Pharma Quick Step, led by race leader Tony Martin and working for Mark Cavendish were up against Giant Shimano who were working for John Degenkolb.

Modeno and Sagan went for the line but Mark Cavendish put in a superb stint on the left to take the win in 3.35.00 ahead of Lobato, Sagan, Modolo and Kristoff.

Tony Martin keeps his leaders jersey going into the fifth stage.

"It was a headwind finish and a chaotic one," Cavendish said to Eurosport. "I knew I had to go between 100m and 200ms and I was able to hold on and win. It was nice and will boost my confidence but I will have an hour analyising things."
