Cavendish Wins Second Stage Of Tirreno Adriatico

Mark Cavendish won the second stage of the Tirreno Adriatico today.

A 230km long stage from San Vincenzo to Indicatore saw a strong field which included World Champion Mark Cavendish and Tour De France 2011 winner Cadel Evans in a peloton which was altogther for the last twenty kilometres after two riders had been brought back after 199kms out in front.

Rabobank and Radio Shack led the way at the front before BMC and Astana took over.

With 1.8kms to go, there was a big crash which stopped many riders including a number of Lotto riders.

Robbie Hunter went but Mark Cavendish was there to get past him and win in a time of 6:32:32 with Gomez second and Farrar third.

The win was Cavendish's 78th professional win of his career since 2007.
