As expected, Mark Cavendish won the London Surrey Cycle Classic this morning in the Mall.

The 140km race took in some of the course which will be used in the Olympic Mens Road race next year and was watched by large crowds.

Four riders in Holohan, House, Murray and Weber had a lead of over six and a half minutes with fifty kilometres to go and House took the King Of The Mountains climb over Box Hill.

Following a crash on the other side of Box Hill, the time gap started to come down.

Big groups started to form off the back of the bunch as the race headed back towards London and the two bunches were separated by thirty seconds with thirty kilometres to go.

House and Holohan were out in front before the break was caught with 10kms left.

Arvesen the Norwegian attacked before there was a big crash with three kilometres to go and one of the favourites Tyler Farrar went down.

This left a split of twenty riders and Mark Cavendish, the current HTC rider, held his nerve to record another superb victory.
