Cavendish To Start 2011 Season In Australia

Britain's top cycling sprinter Mark Cavendish will start his 2011 season in Australia.

The Manx Missile (pictured below) has been announced in the HTC Colombia team for the Santos Tour Down Under race which starts on January 18th in Mawson Lakes and finishes with a 90km circuit of Adelaide on January 23rd.



Speaking about the HTC Colombia team that will take part in the race, HTC Team Director Rolf Aldaag said to his team's press office:"Santos Tour Down Under is obviously a very important race in our calendar

"The team has won the overall and multiple stages the last three years. As a team, we enjoy the chance to prove that the hard work during the winter has paid off. The motivation from early wins at Tour Down Under gives the whole team a big boost for the first part of the season.

"We will start with a very strong roster and we want to target GC and stage wins. We have proven that this is possible and everybody knows of the importance of the race. The organization is perfect, with big support from the local crowd and we are looking forward to starting our 2011 racing season there."

The HTC Team is Mark Cavendish [GBR], Bernhard Eisel [AUT], Bert Grabsch [GER], Matt Goss [AUS], Hayden Roulston [NZL], Mark Renshaw [AUS] and Danny Pate [USA].
