Cavendish To Ride In Argentina

Mark Cavendish is, according to the race website is to ride the Tour De San  Luis in Argentina.

The race, which is the largest in South America, is from January 21st to January 27th and was won last year by Levi Leipheimer who was riding for Omega Pharma Quick Step for whom Cavendish now rides.

The race in its sixth edition starts in San Luis with a 164km stage to Villa Mercedes. Stage two is from Tilisarao to Terrazas del Portezuelo and is 171km long, Stage three is 173.1kms from La Punta to Mirador del Potrero, Stage four is a 19.4km time trial, stage five is from Juana Koslay to Carolina is 169.8kms, stage six is 156.7kms long and from Quines - Merlo (Mirador del Sol) before the race ends with a 154km stage from San Luis to Juana Koslay.

Team Sky are not participating in this race but a lot of the main UCI World Tour teams are and many are including some top riders.

Cannondale have named Peter Sagan, Michael Albasini and Leigh Howard go for Australian side Orica Greenedge, Thor Hushovd and Teejay Van Garderen ride for BMC, Vincenzo Nibali will ride for Astana, Alessandro Petacchi goes for Merida Lampre, Alberto Contador rides for Saxo Bank Tinkoff, whilst Carlos Alberto Betancourt leads AG2R.

British registered Fantini Vini are amongst the Pro Continental teams competing.
