Cavendish Named For Season Opener

British Champion Mark Cavendish of Omega Pharma Quick Step is to  compete at the Tour De San Luis in Argentina in January.

The first race of the season will start on January 19th with a 164km stage from San Luis to Villa Mercedes. This will be followed by three mountain top finishes, a sprint and an individual time trial before the 148km Bicentennial Landmark stage which starts and finishes on January 26th.

Also pencilled in for the race which is going on at the same time as the Santos Tour Down Under are the likes of Movistar's Nairo Quintana, Peter Sagan of Cannondale and Astana's Vincenzo Nibali.

Other teams lined up, according to organisers at a press conference on Wednesday are Garmin-Sharp, BMC, Lampre-Merida and Orica GreenEdge.
