BMC's Cadel Evans has announced what will be his last ever race.
The 37 year old will end his career at the Great Ocean Road Race in Geelong, south east Australia, in February 2015 in a 174km race.
"But there is a massive amount of motivation and momentum behind what I do that has got me to do all the work that is required – the training, the travel and all the sacrifices and discipline you need to do to perform in any sport – or anything.
"I find that now, to put the brakes on that momentum, is not that easy because there is quite a force behind it after all these years.
"But one thing as an athlete – and I think it is healthy – is to always be hungry and almost never be satisfied.
"But if you are never satisfied you never appreciate what you have done.
"So maybe in January and February I will look back on my career and appreciate what I have done, otherwise I will be a bit unhappy.
"I would love to finish off January as best I can."
