Breschel Wins Tour Of Luxembourg

Tinkoff-Saxo's Matti Breschel has won the 74th Skoda Tour De Luxembourg.

Tinkoff-Saxo's Matti Breschel was looking to defend his lead on this fourth 168.2km stage from Mersch to Luxembourg City after two stage wins.

Nine riders in Andrei Greipel of Lotto, Greg Henderson of BMC, Edwin Avila of Colombia, Sergeuei Firsanov of Rusvelo, Guilluame Levarlet of Cofidis, Andy Schleck of Trek, Danny Van Poppel of Trek , Laurens De Vreese of Wanty Group and Jaquues Janse van Rensburg of MTN Qhubeka.

They had a lead of 2.56 and just under four minutes with 65kms to go.

Van Poppel dropped away from this leading group as they started on five laps around the capital Luxembourg City.

Greg Henderson tried to attack but he was brought back by the leaders who were not caught and this let Lotto's Andrei Greipel get clear and take the stage victory, which was his tenth in the 2014 season with Matti Breschel, who finished second, taking the overall victory.
