Breschel Takes Tour Of Denmark Third Stage

Saxo Tinkoff's Matti Breschel won the Tour Of Denmark (Post Danmark Rundt) Third Stage

The longest stage of the race at 200kms was from Sønderborg to Vejle and saw six riders in Rasmussen, Ignatiev, Pedersen, Reihs, Andersen and Mortensen, take the lead.

At the halfway stage, they had a lead of 1.30 which briefly dropped before going back out to 1.35 with 68kms remaining.

Eighteen kilometres later and the six escapers were down to four and they were eventually caught with a new group of ten riders in Ligthart, Lund, Ignatiev, Sehested, Reihs, Hansen, Andersen, Mortensen & Vandenbergh.taking over with 35kms to go.

Andrew Fenn got to the front but he was pulled back by a group which now was around thirty in number who started on the first of three laps of 5.5km around Vejle.

With two laps to go,  Breschel, Bak, Vandenbergh, Leukemans, Kelderman & Vinther were in front with a lead of 23 seconds. Lars Bak and Wilco Kelderman launched attacks, only for both to be reeled in and eight riders to take over.

Onto the final lap and Kelderman attacked again.but Matti Breschel and Lars Bak followed him. Breschel got to the front and the Saxo-Tinkoff rider took the victory and the race leaders jersey.
