Brandon To Stage Elite League Riders Championship

Brandon will be host the Elite League Riders' Championship on Saturday October 8 (7.30pm).

Captain Chris Harris and British Champion Danny King will represent the Buildbase Bees in the showpiece event staged by the club on behalf of the British Speedway Promoters' Association.

And in a boost for fans, BSPA bosses have brought down admission prices from last year’s level as a way of thanking fans for their loyal support throughout the season.

Adults are £20, concessions £15 and accompanied children go free for an event which will feature some of the top stars in international racing.

In addition to Harris and King, other riders confirmed are Fredrik Lindgren and Sam Masters (Wolverhampton), Niels-Kristian Iversen and Robert Lambert (King’s Lynn), and Nick Morris and Rohan Tungate (Swindon). The full line-up will be announced shortly.

British Speedway Chairman Keith Chapman said: “The line-up is excellent, of the top boys there is only really Jason Doyle who can’t do it as his European season is over and he’s heading back to Australia early to start preparations for the last Grand Prix.

“It’s a great way to bring the curtain down on the Elite League season, the Grand Final takes place between Wolves and Belle Vue on Monday and Wednesday and then the ELRC on the Saturday. I’m looking forward to a big week of speedway and we hope to welcome lots of supporters to Brandon.

“The fans are the lifeblood of the sport and we have tried to produce an admission structure which makes the event affordable and good value for everyone.”

In a further bonus for early arrivals, the club will also be staging the second leg of the Midland Development League Grand Final between the Coventry Vikings and Buxton. The Vikings are eight points up from last weekend’s first leg.

Gates open at 5.30pm with the six-heat MDL match taking place at 6pm, to enable time for the circuit to be prepared for the ELRC at 7.30pm.
