Omega Pharma Quick Step's Matt Brammier is the Elite Mens Irish National Road Race Champion for the third succesive time.

The annual Championship was this year held in Clonmel and saw the 84 riders have to complete nine laps of 18.6 kilometre circuit plus 6.1kms of road.

After fourteen kilometres, Matt Brammeier (Omega Pharma Quick Step) was in an eleven man group chasing Damien Shaw.

AG2R rider Nicholas Roche missed that break but was able to catch up and then work his way through to catch up with his cousin Dan Martin before passing him and setting off in pursuit of Philip Lavery (Node4 Giordana) and Martyn Irvine (RTS Racing) along with Brammier who attacked just before the start of the final lap.

He was not to be caught and won ahead of Nicholas Roche with Lavery third.
