2012 Tour De France winner Bradley Wiggins is in hospital after being hit by a Vauxhall Astra whilst on a training ride tonight.
Wiggins was on a training ride in Wrightington, Lancashire, followed by his support team when he was hit by a Vauxhall Astra at 6pm this evening, as he passed a service station.
A female driver is being reported as being quizzed by police whilst Wiggins is in hospital and receiving treatment for severe bruising and injuries to his ribs. It is not known at this stage if Wiggins has any broken bones.

Team Sky have issued a statement confirming that Wiggins is in hospital and the injuries he has sustained are not thought to be serious and he is expected to make a full and speedy recovery.
