Bouhanni Wins Nationale Sluitingprijs - Putte - Kapellen

Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis has won the Nationale Sluitingprijs - Putte - Kapellen race in Belgium and the UCI European Tour.

The last Europe Tour 1.1 race of the season in Belgium saw the riders taking on nine 21.76 kms laps for a total of 195.8 kilometres of a race which started and finished in Putte.

Six riders in Van der Sande, Teunissen, W.Kreder, Van Goethem, Van Lerberghe and Riesebeek formed an early break and were 2.30 ahead after thirty five kilometres.

With less than one hundred kilometres left, their lead stood at 3.30 but with four laps, left, the gap was down to 1.10 to Claeys (Verandas Willems) and Chevalier (Wallonie Bruxelles) and 2.14 to the peloton.

Six became nine when the chasers plus Tjallingii joined them for the last sixty eight kilometres.

The peloton worked to bring the gap down to 1.55 with thirty kilometre left

The nine out front took the bell lap but the peloton were closing in fast and with three kilometres to go, the break was caught.

It came down to a bunch sprint with Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis needing points to win the European Tour, just taking the win in a photo finish from Tom.Van Asbroeck and Jens.Debusschere.
