Bouhanni Wins Critérium du Dauphiné.Stage Four

Nacer Bouhanni of Cofidis has won stage four of the 67th Critérium du Dauphiné.

Stage four was the longest stage of the race - a 228km stage from Anneyron - Porte de DrômArdèche to Sisteron and new leader Rohan Dennis of BMC led out the peloton which allowed Martijn Keizer (LottoNL-Jumbo) and Tosh Van der Sande (Lotto-Soudal) to get away after three kilometres.

They build up an advantage of 7.15 as the rain started to come down as they went through the feedzone at Mornas at which point Kris Broeckmans retired.

Onto the Col de Lescou which has gradients of 4.7% and the duo were still around six minutes clear.

Going through Serres with less than fifty kilometres left and the gap was down to 5.07 with two of the three of the day's climbs dealt with.

The peloton started to put the hammer down and the gap dropped to 3.27 with twenty kilometres to go, meaning that Keizer was no longer the virtual leader on the road.

Van der Sande and Keizer slowly being brought back. Cofidis and MTN Qhubeka had initially done some of the work but BMC were now working hard at closing down the gap as the duo started on the Col de la marquis.

With the gap down to thirty seconds, Gautier got up to Van der Sande as Keizer broke away and went over the climb. They were joined by Chad Haga and  Tim Wellens of Lotto Soudal who cauught up to Keizer with 8kms left.

The attacks from the peloton continued and Rohan Dennis had to put in one burst of speed of keep others in check.

A small group including Nibali was pulled everyone back and Tony Martin joined Oss and Tammerink before Adam Yates brought them all back again with two kilometres left.

Tony Gallopin led going under the flam rouge but was caught and the sprint was on. Samuel Dumoulin (AG2R) lit up the sprint but it was Nacer Bouhanni in the points jersey who was first over the line in 5.30.53 for his second stage win in this race ahead of Jonas Vangenchten of Iam Cycling and Luka Megzec, followed by Edvald Boasson- Hagen, Tsatevich, Aaphilippe, Sam Dumoulin, Benoot, Reza and Haas

Rohan Dennis keeps his race lead.
