Bodnar Takes Tour Of Poland Stage Win

Maciej Bodnar of Tinkoff Saxo has won the Tour Of Poland fourth stage.

Marcel Kittel of Giant Alpecin was still in the lead for this fourth 220km stage which started in Jaworzno and had its finish in Nowy S¹cz and was a stage of one intermediate sprint and three KOM climbs.

Maciej Bodnar of Tinkoff Saxo, Gatis Smukulis of Katusha and Zielinski of the Polish national team went on the attack and were allowed to get 8.50 clear after 45kms.

With Zielinski taking enough points to put himself in the KOM jersey, the trio were 5.39 ahead with 39kms left.

Onto the closing circuit on wet roads on Nowy Sacz, the peloton were 2.00 minutes down with two laps to go and 1.06 going into the final lap.

On wet slippery roads which included some sections of cobbles, the gap slowly started to fall but the trio were not giving up, especially as Kamil Zielinski was the leader on the road.

The trio sprinted it out and Maciej Bodnar took the win in 5.14.27 and it was Zielinski who finished second and took over the lead of the race with Smukulis in third, followed by Ewan, Mezgec, Van Asbroeck,  Norman Hansen, Dillier, Manzin and Turgot
