Blaze Start With A Loss To Belfast

Coventry Blaze were beaten in their first Elite League Home game of the season in over-time by the Belfast Giants.

The Blaze went a goal down on 30.57 through Rutherford but were level on 34.28 when Ben Godfrey scored assisted by Darcy Zajac on the powerplay.

Belfast went back in front on 38.58 with a Forney goal on the powerplay, only for Jordan Pietrus to make it 2-2 for the Blaze on 46.04, assisted by Bjorn Bombis.

There were no further goals and the game went to over-time and after fifty seconds, Rutherford scored to send the Blaze to a 3-2 over-time defeat.
