Coventry Blaze ice Hockey team have signed Canadian forward Brett Robinson from the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League.

The 30 year old former captain of Mercyhurst College has spent six years in the East Coast Hockey League, the last three with the Steeleheads. In 2013/14 he was named the team’s most valuable player and last season posted 50 points in 51 regular season games.

Previously, Robinson spent two seasons with the Cincinnati Cyclones where he won the Kelly Cup in 2009/10 under Blaze Head Coach, Chuck Weber. Robinson scored the cup winning goal in that season.

Brett is a skilled center who competes on every puck,” said Weber to the Blaze website.

“He won a championship with me in Cincinnati as a rookie and I have enjoyed watching him develop into the solid all round player he is today.

He is a quality person who is professional in his approach to the game. I look forward to working with Brett again and I know the fans will enjoy watching him in a Blaze jersey.”

“I am very excited about joining the Coventry Blaze this coming hockey season,” said Robinson.

“My wife and I have already been treated extremely well by James Pease and the Blaze organisation, and we both can’t wait for this new experience in Coventry.

"Reuniting with Chuck Weber is also exciting. Last time we were together it resulted in a championship, so I will be looking forward to similar results this coming season, and to continue to build on the Blaze success of last season.

"I cannot wait to experience such a different atmosphere then I am used to. I really am excited to play in front of the great Blaze fans."
