Bees Denied The Win

Coventry Bees were denied a win on the last lap of the meeting away to Lakeside Hammers.

In front of the Sky TV cameras at Arena Essex in Purfleet, the Bees who top the Elite League, went down to a 4-2 in the opening heat which was re-run and had Jason Garrity win in heat two for a 3-3.

With Stuart Robson forced out of the meeting after crashing in the opening heat and landing on his shoulder, Andersen won in a 3-3 before Garrity and Joonas Kylmakorpi rode to a 5-1.

After another 3-3, Chris Harris won in a 4-2 but the Hammers came back with a 5-1 and a 3-3.

Joonas Kylmakorpi won for the Bees in heat nine for a 5-1 but former Bees rider Ed Kennett won to reduce the Bees lead to two points.

In heat eleven, Danny King hit the fence as Lakeside took a 5-1 only for Jason Garrity and James Sarjeant to cancel that out.

Hans Andersen won in heat thirteen in a 4-2 and with the Hammers taking a 5-1 in heat fourteen, it was all level at 42-42 going into the final heat.

Chris Harris got past Ed Kennett with Andersen in front but Andreas Jonsson managed to close and dive in on the line to take the win in a 3-3 which meant that the meeting  finished in a 45-45 all draw.

COVENTRY 45: Jason Garrity 15+1, Hans Andersen 10, Chris Harris 9+1, Joonas Kylmakorpi 6+1, James Sarjeant 4+3, Danny King 1, Stuart Robson 0.
