Beaton Out Of World MatchPlay

Coventry Darter Steve Beaton went out of the World Matchplay Championships at Blackpool with a 16-13 defeat to Gary Anderson.

Beaton went 3-0 down before taking the next two legs. Anderson then took the next five legs to lead 8-3.

The Bronze Adonis checked out on 78 but Anderson took the next leg which was followed by two legs for Beaton.

Anderson made it 10-6 but Beaton came back with two more legs, only for Anderson to take the seventeenth leg.

Beaton took two legs to go within one leg of Anderson who took his 12th leg with a double top.

Beaton drew level with two leg wins but back came Anderson with three legs.

Beaton checked out on double eight but Anderson hit 177 then tops to take the win.
