Argos Shimano's Niklas Arndt won the Arctic Tour Of Norway third stage.

The 201.5km stage ended in a sprint which Arndt won by half a wheel in 4.40.49, ahead of Kenny Van Hummel and Barry Markus after four riders had been pulled back with seven kilometres to go on a stage from Solvaer to Stokmarknes.

Thor Hushovd was fifth and drops to second place in the general classification, some three seconds behind Kenny Van Hummel of Vacansoliel and six seconds ahead of Barry Markus for tomorrow's final stage.

A delighted Arndt said to the Argos Shimano Press Office after his podium duties: "The guys did a really great lead-out today. We went into it with a plan but the wind wasn't as expected to we changed tactics and gave it everything. The team were unbelievably strong today.

"Also, this is my first professional victory, it feels amazing. Hopefully this first one will lead to more."
