Alberto Contador Wins Route Du Sud

In his last race before the Tour De France, Tinkoff Saxo's Alberto Contador has won the Route Du Sud race in France.

The 2015 Giro D'Italia winner needed only to finish safely on the final 166km stage from Revel to Gaillac.

Romain Hardy of Cofidis was in a small break with seven kilometres left and a lead of forty seconds. which was down to seventeen seconds with 4.5kms left when Fabio Duarte put in an attack.

Duarte managed to stay clear for three kilometres but the Tinkoff Saxo controlled peloton were after the sprint and up came Bryan Coquard of Europcar for an easy win which was his second of this race, followed by Manzin, Duque, Tronet, Tulik, Sanz, Verhelst, Duval, Fonseca and Malando.

Alberto Contador finished in the peloton and took victory overall with a seventeen second win over Nairo Quintana of Colombia and forty one seconds over LaTour.
