Michael Albasini of Orica-GreenEdge completed a hat-trick of wins in the Tour Of Romandie when he sprinted to victory on the fourth stage.

A stage which featured circuits totalling 174kms around Fribourg SAW Michael Albasini, Tommy Voeckler, Jan Bakelants and Alexis Vuillermoz of AG2R get away early and take a lead of 6.15 after 48kms.

In a bizarre twist, the leaders took a wrong turn and went off the course meaning that the race had to be briefly neutralised until everyone was bakc where they were supposed to be and the final five laps continued.

Albasini, Voeckler and Bakelandts kept going and although the peloton tried to bring them back, the trio were still out in front going under the flam rouge.

Albasini had been leading going into the final kilometre and he led out the inevitable sprint but used his experience and timed his move to perfection to win in 4.14.21 ahead of Voeckler, Bakelandts and nine seconds later, David Appollonio and Antony Roux.

Simon Spilak keep his lead over Chris Froome by a second.
