Orica GreenEdge's Aidis Kruopis won the second stage of the Presidental Tour Of Turkey this afternoon.

A fast 153km stage from Alanya to Antalya saw six riders get away but get pulled back to a lead of 1.44 with 30kms to go.

The Green points jersey wearing Andre Greipel received news of his grandmother's death from his team car and after opting to finish the stage and then make a decision as to whether he will continue in the race, the German carried on helping to close down the escapers.

With twenty kilometres to go, Clement Koresky shot away but he was caught two kilometres later as the peloton closed to within 15 seconds.

The escapers day at the front was over with 12kms to go and the riders set themselves up for a bunch sprint.

Inside the final kilometre, there was a massive crash started when Mark Renshaw clipped a wheel. The road was completely blocked and only a handful of riders got through.

Andre Greipel was one of those but it was Aidis Kruopis who rode to the win in 3.23.54, leaving Greipel who finished third behind Coledan to take over the leaders jersey.

Greipel, who leads the race from Marcel Kittel, said to Matt Rendell: "I saw the crash but I was only 500m from the finish. I hope everyone is ok. I had a good position in the final corner. I tried my best but I was hurting.

"I've got the leaders jersey but we will have to see about the green jersey."
