100th Tour De France Winner Chris Froome has said that winning the world's greatest cycle race was a dream come true.

Froome, who has been the race favourite for a year, won by a margin of over five minutes from Nairo Quintana and said to Eurosport: "I am feeling to so proud to be standing here today. This is a dream come true.

"This really has been a special edition of the Tour De France and winning in this style has been the perfect way for the 100th TDF. I was waking up knowing every day I had to work and my team were superb.

"Whoever was wearing the yellow jersey this year was going to come under pressure after the revelations of last year and I hope I have showed that the peloton are standing together in the fight against that."

Froome dedicated the win to his late mother and also said it was a great shame that she was not to see the tour. He added: "I would like to thank the Team Sky management for building the team around me and my team mates for their work in keeping me in the yellow jersey and thank you to my family, friends and finance

"This is a beautiful country and the world's greatest sporting event and my victory in the 100th Tour De France will stand the test of time."
