Wiggins Team Sky Start Brings A Win

Top English cyclist Bradley Wiggins got his tenure at Team Sky off to a winning start as the British based team took the opening stage of the Tour Of Qatar today.

Team Sky who included Brits Wiggins, Russ Downing, Geraint Thomas and Ian Stannard, posted a time of 9 mins, 42 seconds for the 8.2km course which was not beaten.



Team Garmin, whom Wiggins (pictured) left at the end of last season, were second with Team Saxo Bank in third.

Edvald Boasson Hagen who crossed the line first for Team Sky will start tomorrow's second stage wearing the leader's gold jersey.

The other Brit in the race Alex Dowsett of Trek Livestrong saw his team in 15th position, some 39 seconds back.
