Iconic Coventry Two Tone band The Specials were forced to cancel the opening night of their gigs at the Brixton Academy tonight after lead singer Terry Hall picked up a throat infection.

Hall has been advised to rest his voice for 24 hours after playing sell out gigs in Newcastle, Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester on their 30th anniversary tour.

The band are optimistic that gigs on May 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th will go ahead as planned.

The Specials are due to play the Jaguar Exhibition Hall at the Ricoh Arena on Friday May 15th.
