Coventry Music Museum, based in Ball Hill Coventry, has effectively brought their logo to life by making the four faces on it their Honorary Patrons! Frank Ifield, Hazel O’Connor, Pete Waterman and Nev Staple who is represented by the 2-Tone man are all backing the new venture.
A very happy Director and Curator Pete Chambers, said, when I came up with the idea of the logo, I wanted to represent key areas of Coventry music” He said. “So I chose Cov legends, Frank, Hazel, Pete and of course Nev, who is a regular visitor at the Village & Museum and a massive supporter of the project. I always hoped we could secure them as honorary patrons, and now we have, it’s terrific, and gives a huge credence to the project
Breaking Glass legend Hazel O’Connor, posted on her Facebook page, “So chuffed to be honorary patron of Covs N°1 tourist attraction! Do check it out, it’s a fantastic place! X”
The museum that celebrates all types of music, from various periods of time, including 2-Tone, The Enemy and Frank Ifield, has just become number one in the Trip Advisor rankings after just seven weeks of being open. It has an emphasis on community and learning.
Museum Director Julie Chambers said of the achievement, “ We have worked hard to make this museum something special for the city. Obviously you do your best, then it’s over to the public to judge, and thankfully they love it. I feel we have created something great for the city, we give up our time as volunteers and now it’s paying off, but help, funding and publicity and support is essential to keep it going”.
The Museum is holding a series of Big Lottery funded events entitled ‘Sounding Off’, where various members of the Coventry Music fraternity talk about their roles past and present. Dates for the diary are Sat 18th January ‘The Sorrows and Beyond’, with Nigel Lomas, Don Fardon, Roger Lomas & Brian Wilkins.
