Sky Sports News Going Off Freeview

Highly popular television channel Sky Sports News is being pulled off Freeview by BSkyB.

With Freeview, the most popular form of digital television in the country with around eight millions viewers being reported, BSkyB have announced that after 12 years, the channel will move to become a pay tv channel.

It will be replaced by Sky 3+1 on Freeview on August 23rd and Sky Sports News then will only be available to subscribers of Sky, Virgin and Talk Talk.

Barney Francis, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said in a press statement: "Sky Sports News has been a great success over the last 12 years and we have big ambitions to make it even better. As part of a subscription service, customers can look forward to expanded coverage and the launch of Europe's first HD sports news service."
