Silverton and Neol Unveil Ninth Two Tone Plaque

This afternoon, tthe Specials original drummer, Silverton Hutchinson along with Neol Davies unveiled the ninth two tone at 30 plaque at the Heath Hotel Plaque on Foleshill Rd.

Now the Wonder Years Day Nursery, this was an historic place in the history of The Specials, as it was the very first place The Specials (or the Automatics as they were then) ever played. It was October 1977, and they supported the punk bands Urban Blight, Certified, The Wild Boys and Squad.



In his diary of the time Jerry Dammers says of the venue, "The organ wouldn't fit on the stage, so I played in the audience, facing the band".

The unveiling of this plaque which was attended from Specials fans from as far away as Leeds.
