Nuneaton needed to beat Hednesford Town and for Boston not to get anything from their game at Stalybridge Celtic.
Shane Byrne had Nuneaton ahead on the stroke of half-time and Marlon Harewood scored a second in the 62nd minute with James Reid scoring a third in the 77th minute to record a 3-0 win but with Boston winning 5-0, their play-off hopes were over.
