The National League have issued the following press statement regarding Nuneaton Town:

"At a hearing before a sub-committee of The National League Board held on Tuesday 22nd March 2016 a charge against Nuneaton Town FC of fielding an ineligible Player in its match against Corby Town in The National League North on Saturday 27 February 2016 was determined.

Upon the Club’s own admission to the charge, Nuneaton Town FC was found guilty of a breach of Rule 6.1.1 and sanctioned under Rule 6.9, being fined £250.00 for the offence and the three points the Club gained in the match ordered to be deducted from its League Table score."

Nuneaton intend to appeal and said in a statement:

"The Club can confirm that on Tuesday 22nd March, 2016 it attended at a disciplinary meeting of the National League to answer a charge of fielding an ineligible player during a fixture against Corby Town on 27th February, 2016.

The Club immediately admitted the charge and put forward what it considered to be strong mitigation in relation to this matter.

The Club was fined the sum of £250 and deducted the three points it won in the fixture.

The Club has now had the opportunity to take professional advice on this issue and can confirm that they have advised the Football Association and the National League of its intention to submit an Appeal against the penalty imposed which will be heard in due course.

Chairman Lee Thorn commented: " We believe that the National League have made an error in its adjudication of this matter and can assure the players, coaching staff, and supporters that we will do all within our power to reverse this decision.

"Our priority remains maintaining our play off position and we will do all we can to support the players and coaching staff who have worked so hard during this season."

"The Club will be making no further comment until the conclusion of the Appeal proceedings."
