Ninth Two Tone At 30 Plaque Details

On Friday 6th November at 3.00pm the Specials original drummer, Silverton Hutchinson, will unveil the Heath Hotel Plaque (Foleshill Rd, now Wonder Years Day Nursery, near Blue Ribbon Island).

This was an historic place in the history of The Specials, as it was the very first place The Specials (or the Automatics as they were then) ever played. It was October 1977, and they supported the punk bands Urban Blight, Certified, The Wild Boys and Squad.

In his diary of the time Jerry Dammers says of the venue, "The organ wouldn't fit on the stage, so I played in the audience, facing the band".

At night (also on the 6th November), The celebrations continue at The General Wolfe (also the Foleshill Rd), from 8.00pm, featuring DJ Cardboard, Coventrys most talked about band The Tones and a rare appearance from one of the area's most hard hitting bands the incredible Dub.Jam.Force, plus some special guests. The really good news is it's all FREE. So come along and enjoy some ska, reggae and dub. For more information go to www.2-toneat30.info
