Jet Blades have won the 124th Coventry Telegraph Cup FInal beating Whitnash Town 3-1 at the Ricoh Arena.

The annual Coventry Telegraph Cup Final this year was between two Coventry Alliance sides in Whitnash Town and Jet Blades.

Whitnash had beaten Folly Lane and Blades had knocked out Midland Football League Division One side Coventry Copsewood in the semi-finals to book their places at the Ricoh Arena on a sunny but cold evening.

Jet Blades were ahead in the fourth minute when Ben Cole was allowed space and time to receive the ball on the edge of the area and drive a low shot past Neil Staacey on his right hand side.

Four minutes later and Blades had the ball in the net again when John Russell netted but the whistle of referee Mick McGuire had long gone for a foul on Stacey.

Blades attacked with Stacey beating away a Danny Harris shot from the left and Russell heading wide in the seventeenth minute.

Chris Harrison crashed a pile driver over the bar and as the Blades pressure continued they won a 21st minute corner.

Two minutes later and John Russell was cautioned for trying to head the ball out of Stacey's hands and Kevin McGarvey went into the book for a late tackle.

That lead to a 27th minute Blades corner in a game which was producing some very heavy challenges.

In the 36th minute, Whitnash had their first real chance when striker Emett McGuck ghosted in to crash a header from a Leaver cross onto the cross bar.

Russell was denied by a great reaction save from Stacey and Blades won a 42nd minute corner as the tough tackles continued with former Coventry Sphinx defender Jamie Coleman the next to see a yellow card.

Whitnash won on a corner early in the second half and then had a free kick which was over-hit before winning another corner in the 52nd minute.

Two minutes later, Whitnash attacked again and this time after two initial shots were blocked, the ball was sent over to Josh Cole at the far post to head home from a yard out.

Spacey made two great saves but was rounded in the 56th minute by Mitchell Thomson who slipped the ball into the empty net and restore Jet Blades lead.

Whitnash, who had made all their changes won a 70th minute corner and had Stacey save from Scott after good work by the excellent Thomson, who was sporting enough to help a Blades player who went down with cramp in the 76th minute before he too limped off.

On came Kyle Grantham for Jet Blades and within twenty seconds of his introduction, he had scored a third when he raced down the left and slipped the ball past Stacey to give Jet Blades a deserved win and the cup.
