FA Look At Championship Match Fixing

The Football Association are investigating documents forwarded to them by the Sunday Telegraph of a Championship game being fixed for the benefit of Asian betting.

A swing in betting on that an incident in a match may happen, was noticed on two Phillipines based bookmakers by traders at Spreadex, during a recent Championship game.

An expert who spoke to the Telegraph said: "he had not seen anything like this during his time in the industry and admitted to being concerned for "the integrity of the English game".

The Sunday Telegraph sent documents relating to this to the FA and Gambling Commission on Friday with the FA saying that: "We will consider any evidence which is brought to our attention. We are committed to thoroughly investigate any allegations of this nature."

The clubs involved have yet to be named.

Match fixing has been around for years but it normally involves end of season matches where promotion and relegation are involved rather than so early in the Championship season. Most cases normally fail due to a lack of evidence and many of those involved have taken their secrets to their graves.
