Coventry United Issue Statement

Last updated : 04 August 2014 By Covsupport News Service

Coventry United have issued the following statement:

"When the board started Coventry United last season our belief was to have fun watching non-league football without the politics until CCFC sorted out their issues then returned home.

Sadly, twelve months on and one season under our belt Coventry City remains in Northampton and us fans still remain in the dark, it's not funny. One thing is clear, the longer CCFC stay away from the Ricoh the harder it will be for some fans to 100% engage with their beloved football team again.

Fans have handled this situation in a number of different ways KCIC, NOPM, hill supporters, marching together etc. We wanted to support our new Coventry United team and simply enjoy football, good times and bad, I thought I would summarise our first season for you.

We lost 6 league games
We finished 2nd in the league
We got promoted
Most goals scored in the league
Least goals conceded in the league
Two broken legs
Best result 28-0
Worst result 2-0
Best crowd 415 approx
Reached 1 cup final

This season we will continue to push for back to back promotion and we will treat every game as a cup final and play entertaining football. Our friendly games allowed us to sign some new players and strengthen our already strong squad, now we are ready and excited for the new season starting next Saturday (09/08/2014).

We welcome new teams to our club, allowing Coventry United to secure our future and build on our Coventry community spirit. A short summary of the changes made for this season are below:

Dissolved Coventry Spartans (Coventry Alliance Division 5)
Started Coventry United Reserves (midland football league reserves Division 2)
Started 14 Junior team
(Lloyd McGrath's Hawkesmill)

Our sponsors, players, management and the fans can ask any questions and they will get a straight answer, it isn't difficult, try it, ask us a question.

Coventry United has it's own growing pains like many non-league football clubs but we will try our very best to introduce a stable football club into Coventry and involve like minded people into the club to enhance and improve this new club.

Feel free to pop down to the Alan Higgs to watch the guys or simply follow #CovUnited on twitter and we'll keep you informed with basic live commentary during every game.

Finally, thank you to all the supporters, we know it's difficult to follow a new team during these difficult times, so thank you, on behalf of the players and the club."
