Coventry Rugby Club will play their home Championship fixture against Bedford at The Ricoh Arena on Friday night. Kick off time is 7:45 pm.

The move comes after the club was placed into voluntary liquidation by the club's owner Andrew Green after receiving a winding-up order from the Inland Revenue because of an outstanding tax bill.

The club were told to lock up the Butts Park Arena ground, which is not owned by the club, with all staff sent home leaving the club without a ground to play their fixtures.

According to RFU rules, the club could face exclusion if a scheduled league game is not played. Desperate efforts have been made by some club officials to make sure the game did go ahead and to ensure the long term survival of the rugby club founded in 1874.

Coventry Rugby Club are the fourth Championship rugby club to suffer financial woes this season, London Welsh, Birmingham and Solihull are all in serious financial trouble and face uncertain futures
