Copsewood (Coventry) Ladies started their WPL Southern League campaign with a 3-1 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
At Culver Road, Brighton took a 37th minute lead when Gibbons slotted home after Gurr's initial strike rebounded off the post.
A minute before half-time, it was two when Gibbons turned provider, picking out Gurr at the near post who nodded home.
In the 48th minute, the Seagulls had a third when Gibbons scored her second of the match from close range after being sent clear by Barton.
Sarah Rowles pulled one back in the 55th minute with a bullet strike on the edge of the box but Copsewood were beaten.
