AEI Rugby are the Coventry Alliance Premier Division champions after Folly Lane and Whitnash Town drew 2-2 tonight at London Road.

Whitnash Town took the lead in a game which both sides needed to win otherwise AEI Rugby who had the best goal difference out of the three teams would win the title, with a goal from their number seven in the 29th minute. The Lane players were not happy and protested that the goal was offside which it looked to some of the crowd which was around the three hundred mark, but the goal stood.

Two minutes before half-time and the Lane were level when Bradley Reece got in a shot which beat the keeper. There had been a bit of afters between Daniel Pigeon and a Whitnash player and when the goal went in, Pigeon threw the ball at an opponent and was promptly red-carded.

Four minutes into the second half and the ten men went ahead when former Coventry City youngster Kieron Fitzharris was fouled and got up to score from the resulting penalty.

Back came Whitnash Town six minutes from time with a goal that came from the Lane keeper dropping the ball.

Into stoppage time and in the fourth minute, Whitnash were awarded a penalty only minutes after a very good shout for one was denied by the referee.

After a Lane player had been sent off, Whitnash's number 3 stepped up and the Lane keeper went down to his left to save and keep the score at 2-2 which was the result either side wanted but one that AEI Rugby who had a number of players/fans in attendance wanted.
