Coventry Sphinx saw off Biddulph Victoria with a hard workng performance this afternoon.

Against a Biddulph side which is to merge with Alsager at the end of the season, Sphinx had all the play early on and after Luke Williams had a shot saved. He got into the penalty area in the 16th minute and was sent sprawling by Tim Allcock.

Mr Davies had little choice but to show a red card to the number three and award a penalty kick from which Luke Williams  (pictured below in foreground) duly scored from.

Eight minutes later, Sphinx went further ahead thanks to Luke Williams drawing the keeper out to the edge of his area and knocking the ball back for the unmarked Andrew Williams to slot into the empty net.

There might not have been a large contingent at Sphinx Drive due to the England game but in the 28th minute, Biddulph's right back tried to hit the ball back and forced Ben Clarkson to slice into his own net.

James Murrow had two chances for Biddulph including a 52nd minute over-head kick before Liam Kay had a 54th minute goal ruled out when he rose to head home a free kick.

Kay had a fine game along Danny Fraser, Jamie McAteer and the Williams before a moment of madness saw the influential Adam Bilic red carded in the 63rd minute to even up the numbers once more.

With fifteen minutes left, the visitors pulled one back when James Murrow headed in from a corner but Sphinx controlled the game to record another good victory.
