Coventry Sphinx beat Westfields 3-0 tonight to preserve their MFL Premier Division status.

Sphinx's final home game of a long season was against Westfields and designated the club's annual "Pay What You Want" fixture with monies going to the British Heart Foundation.

Westfields hit the bar in the opening seconds against a Sphinx side which were level on the stroke of half-time when Luke Downes scored with a low drive.

Eleven minutes into the second half and it was two when Trey Brathwaite scored with a shot from outside the area which beat the keeper on his left.

In the 89th minute, Sphinx had a penalty but Lewis Rankin had his spot kick saved. However, in their next attack, Dave Akinuli got through and slipped it past the keeper to give Sphinx a 3-0 win and preserve their MFL Premier Division status.
