Coventry Sphinx snatched a draw against Tipton Town tonight with a stoppage time penalty.

Danny McSheffrey made only one change from the side which had won 7-1 at Cradley Town a week ago and watched his side embroil themselves in a midfield battle against a visiting side which had only lost three times this season.

Chances were at a premium in the opening forty five minutes with Josh Ruff having a 23rd minute shot saved after he beat the offside trap and Adam Kinder volleying wide on the half hour mark.

Tipton took 35 minutes to create their first real chance which saw Eric Bowen shoot straight at Carl O'Neill. Bowen had two further chances before the half ended without a goal.

The visitors had the early play in the second half against a Sphinx side whose main chance came in the 72nd minute when a Tom Muldoon shot from the edge of the area was pushed away by Tipton keeper Wes Cox for a corner.

Adam Kinder struck the post two minutes later, but the assistant referee's flag had been up for a while.

Then with eight minutes remaining, the match that looked a one goal game, had a goal when a Leon Jackson shot hit the bar post and Danny Bragoli banged in the rebound to delight the visiting fans.

However, two minutes into stoppage time, the same said fans were fuming when Kyle Rhodes was sandwiched and a penalty was indicated by the Assistant Referee on the Willie Knibbs Stand side.

After consulting his assistant, the referee gave a penalty which Callum Woodward duly dispatched to give Sphinx, who take on Coalville Town in a re-arranged home game on Tuesday March 23rd a share of the points.
