Coventry Sphinx have signed Dave Yonwin.

The striker has scored goals for every team he has played for and comes with a record of scoring 46 goals in 49 appearances for Bolehall Swifts after playing for the likes of Atherstone and Heather St Johns.

Speaking to the Sphinx website, manager Luke Hopkins said about the Yonwin signing: "Dave has scored huge amounts of goals in the Midland Combination over the last few years and having watched him on numerous occassions he got the ability and the ability to step up and do it at this level.

"We met with Dave last night and the chat was open and honest he's had clubs chasing him, which he will as he scored over 40 goals last season!!

"But he's agreed to sign, he can see what we are trying do, we are getting the right players in and around him to feed him, we've got a top quality partner lined up to play with him and on the hunt for a third of the same quality to add competition and result in us getting goals,

"Dave knows we are trying to help him progress as a footballer as well as the develop the club, so I think that’s helped reasure him in putting pen to paper"

Craig Herbert also added  "Any player that scores 46 goals from 49 games has to be doing something right in my eyes. Sphinx had done their homework on him and had him watched a couple of times towards the end of the season so he will be a valued member of the squad, a squad that is shaping up nicely"
