Coventry Sphinx have signed Mitch Piggon and extended Carl O'Neill's time at the club.

The striker was prolific at Bedworth United and has played for Rugby Town and Southam United.

Speaking about signing him, Sphinx boss Luke Hopkins told his club's website: "Mitch has always scored goals wherever he has played and we tried to get him last season and it didn’t really work out with him being on forms at Rugby and Southam.

"We have no doubt about the ability and the qualities he has and will bring to the club, my challenge to him is can he score big goals through out the season and win us games that we need to collect 3 points week in week out. He's another signing that signals our intentions for the coming season."

Also committing himself to Sphinx for next season is Carl O'Neill.

Hopkins had nothing but praise for the keeper who has made over 250 appearances for the club "Carlo is up there with the best keepers at this level of football.

"He is brave, commanding, organises his back four and I have yet to see a keeper who is better in one on one situations.

"He is a massive plus for the club so I am more than happy he has pledged his future to the club"
